CBS Learning Abroad Scholarship

The purpose of the CBS Learning Abroad Scholarship is to encourage more CBS students to study science and/or conduct research abroad.

Overview and eligibility

Preference will be given to students who are studying abroad for a semester or more, as well as those taking life science courses &/or conducting research abroad. Award amounts for semester or academic year programs are up to $3,000 while awards for summer, winter break, and spring break programs are up to $1,500.

Eligibility for this scholarship includes:

  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree full-time in the College of Biological Sciences
  • Taking at least one science, research or health-related course while abroad

The application consists of two essay questions:

  • Beyond becoming a global citizen or pursuing a life-changing experience, what personal or academic goals do you hope to achieve through studying or researching abroad? What concrete steps will you take toward reaching these goals? (350 words maximum)
  • How will studying or researching in this location, or on this program specifically, contribute to your understanding of science, research, or health in a global context? If you are studying life science &/or conducting research abroad, please describe the class(es) you are taking &/or research you are conducting. (350 words maximum)
