Craig is a professor in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior and the lead researcher in Snapshot Serengeti, a project that is the basis for an authentic research experience being developed by Annika Moe. In this lab, students will explore ecological concepts using the millions of images generated by Craig's project.
"I was eager to engage undergraduates in our camera-trap surveys; HHMI provided an ideal opportunity to make this data easily accessible to students."
Once complete, the Serengeti lab will engage non-major students with a chance to engage in authentic research using data from Snapshot Serengeti. It will be incorporated into BIOL 1001 Evolution and Ecological Perspectives, a class that Craig teaches, as well as BIOL 1050 Environmental Biology. Craig will be co-teaching BIOL 1001 with Annika in the fall of 2013.
