Annual training in the hazards of formaldehyde is required for anyone who may be exposed to formaldehyde concentrations greater than 0.1 ppm.
Training consisted of:
- "The OSHA Formaldehyde Standard" training video available from DEHS or the CBS Instructional Labs
- Reading the formaldehyde MSDS
- Reading instructions for handling spills provided by Hazardous Waste Management
The training included:
- Description of the formaldehyde standard
- Contents of the MSDS and potential health hazards associated with formaldehyde exposure
- Instructions to immediately report any adverse signs or symptoms of overexposure
- Description of work operations and safe work practices
- Instructions for handling spills
- Use and limitations of personal protective equipment
